The Basic Skills program offered at the Norfolk Arena is a beginner ice skating program available to all ages. The coach/skater ratio is 1:12.

Our Junior Limelights program consists of 25 minutes of skills as well as 25 minutes of Theater on Ice class. The core components of Theater on Ice include choreography, skating movements, and the camaradarie shared between skaters at the introductory level. Skaters will perform their “Performance” at the end of the session for their Parents and Learn to Skate participants.

The Bridge Class at Norfolk Arena will focus on basic skating skills. We will be focusing on stroking, forward crossovers, backward crossovers, turns, posture, and speed.
We will be using full ice!

This program is a fantastic way to introduce the team sport of synchronized skating to anyone
participating in group lessons or at the beginner levels. Block, circle, line, wheel and intersection are
the five elements, and each are performed with prescribed handholds. As skaters advance through
the various levels, they will learn how to transition properly between elements using multiple holds.

Learn to play hockey will work on the basic fundamentals to help your child get the edge. Our Learn to play hockey program is dedicated to making the game of hockey fun for everyone who plays it. By learning and developing the appropriate fundamental skills and knowledge of the game, every player will gain the confidence to be able to compete and enjoy the game at every age and skill level. Our goal is to keep the kids on the ice having fun while also staying interested in the game of hockey. To further develop necessary skills, different games and activities will be incorporated into the sessions to make the experience fun, but also beneficial to learning the basics of hockey.
